Hi I am in this zone to make good friends. I read the topic about describing colours. Well if you are curious or would like me to describe colours I could do so (of course not complicated colours)
How would you describe colors Sophia? I've had sight before so I know what they look like but... hmmmmm
if you ask me i would say red is like to head from the sun/fire, blue (my favourite colour) is like the ice cold water, green is like the freshness of leaves and grass, orange is the smell that comes from when you peel a fresh juicy orange, white is like the feeling of powder that you use.... what colour left? Do you think its a right description. Oh ya yellow is like the smell of a banana and black is the smell of the ink of fountain pen or the smell of octopus (is that how u spell), pink is the smell of a sweet and brown is a smell of a dark chocolate..
let me know what colour did i missed. tell me whether its right or wrong!

ya... white is like snow, beige is like mushroom soup, and purple is the smell of grapes.... yummy
Thanks my new friend Sophia my Aunt Christine tried to describe colors to me! She described everything the way you did! She could never describe orange and purple for me so I thank you for that! Your new friend, Hope
glad you can describe those collours. i wouldn't have a clue
as a person who has been blind my entire life, I can not begin to understand colors. Colors are something that can't easily be described. and oddly enough, it doesn't bother me much.
I think that's a good description, and blue is my favorite color too!
Those "descriptions" of colors above are just similies. Nice try, though. I've been blind my whole life; color is just not patrt of my experience.

hey guys thanks for the comments. well some just dont bother others are curious. but adleast you all know when people tell you the colors they like. smile
I know that the sky is blue and that the grass is green. I also know that the sun is yellow. But, people have told me those things all my life. I really don't know how to describe colors. I think white is the brightest color there is.
oi! i keep doing that. so so sorry
pretty good descriptions but how would you describe silver and gold? I have some sight, so i can see them and also i'm interested in how the night sky has been described to people. A friend took me to see a glow worm cave once, he said it was like that.
hey thanks Galileo. Silver to me it like stainless steel i have to think of gold. hmm
Well i am just like Kayla, i know what they look like because i use to have site.
I think that is a pretty good discripsion of colors. I think it is kind of cool.
what do completely blind people see? black?
that will depends on their level of vision loss. If they are totally blind with no light perception, then it will be black, but it might not be deep black. If they have light perception might experience a grayish balck tint and others who have good light perception might see a brighter background.
I have to differ there. If there's total blindness, if, for example, the eye has been removed or the retina detached and there is nothing at all transmitting through the optic nerve, then you won't see black. You just won't see at all. Not a straight colour or anything, just, no vision.
hmmm.. that's interesting. Won't see at all would mean?
I can see a bit and can see colors. BUT I don't think I see colors as well as sighted people do. Often when I think a thing is blue, yellow, whatever - I get be told its NOT!!
People asked me before if what i can see is black but i don't know because i was always blind. Is like asking a deaf person what is like to hear silence all the time but if they never heard any noise they wouldn't know what silence is.
That's how i feel.
